Made cool friends in Cleveland : Here is Antoine showing Ashli some bass licks... he let us sleep on his futon and couches and ordered us pizza for breakfast !! Yeah :)

Day off in Athens, Ohio

Next we drove to Athens, Ohio where Ashli found us another couch surfing host. Her name was Karlita and we had a great time staying with her in her little country house. We cooked, talked astrology and health care (she is a nurse), and even hoola-hooped !
Good times :) Thanks to Karlita and her awesome hospitality.

to Charlottesville, Virginia !

ashli found some weird tree !

Then we experienced our first tire blow out. The van started shaking so Jon pulled off at the next exit, and on the ramp the tire blew. We unloaded the van of all the real heavy stuff and Jon started to jack up the vehicle.

Then these two guys pulled up behind us and got out to help. They had a better jack and helped us get the spare on.

The blown out tire !

Then we arrived at the Twisted Branch Tea Bazaar (a hookah/Tea bar)

Very lovely place !

This guy was so psyched and wanted to keep the party going all night :)

Ashli with Chris (our couch surfing host in Virginia).

The other band who played this show with us...

Day Off in DC

We had a day off before heading to Virginia, so we decided to spend the day in the nation's capitol, Washington DC. Layne was kind enough to let us stay the night on his futons once again, so we ate dinner together and even went on a food finding adventure (farmer's market garbage ! lots of free fruit and veggies !)

Ashli and the Capitol Building :)

Futuristic zombie rollers (ashli dubbed them).

SERIOUSLY. How lazy can you get ?

It was one of the scariest things. There was a herd of tourists rolling swiftly through the streets. Zombie rollers.

Then in front of the White House we found some activists...

We met the co-founder of food not bombs and gave him a big smile and handshake (he is from Taos, New Mexico)

He showed us his solar oven. We want one.

White House !

DUCK !

Phalis !

Jon and Tim ! (Tim took a bus down to DC and is coming on tour with us from here ! )

OWL painting at Layne's :)

Cool posters :)

Layne !! Most wonderful guy in DC !

Layne's house (the lighthouse) ...where we played and slept and ate :)

Baltimore, Maryland JULY 25th

Entering Baltimore...

Giant cemetary.

It was hot and we had a few hours to kill in Baltimore, so we went to the Baltimore Museum of Art.

Ashli finds African art educational.

We especially liked the African art :)

Local contemporary art (cardboard city ! )

Family picnic on the hill above the harbor area. (in Federal Hill Park)

That night we played in a warehouse/artspace/residency called the Floristree. I forgot to take pictures because we were busy making friends and having fun... but it was really big, really colorful, and really inspiring.

the next morning (july 26)

Off to the Farmer's Market !

So true.

Notice the giant bag of popcorn behind my arm.
